Richard E. Thompson

Richard Thompson is a Vice President of Aviation Management Systems, Inc. technical services group. Richard has more than sixteen years of proven experience in business and commercial aviation. He has an extensive background in aircraft maintenance, conformity and compliance; managing and overseeing new aircraft completions and pre-purchase inspections; asset management and aircraft and engine fleet management. Richard has been a project manager for numerous aircraft acquisitions, repossessions and he also provides consulting services on both a maintenance and operational level. He has participated as a valued team member in various flight department audits and general consulting projects. He has considerable experience working with a variety of Bell, Boeing, Bombardier, Cessna, Eurocopter, Embraer, Falcon, Gulfstream, Hawker and Sikorksy products. Richard also has extensive experience in the procurement and resale of various aircraft inventories, specialized parts and major aircraft components.
He holds a Federal Aviation Administration Airframe & Powerplant license with an "Inspection Authorization" and is also a licensed pilot. His regulatory background and experience includes working with Federal Aviation Regulations Parts 91, 125, 135 and 145. He is also well versed in a number of foreign regulatory venues including the Joint Aviation Authorities and European Aviation Safety Agency. Richard has managed and supervised more than one hundred aircraft acquisitions, pre-purchase inspections, aircraft repossessions and the importing and exporting of aircraft to and from various regulatory venues.
Richard received his initial training for his Airframe & Powerplant license from the College of Aeronautics in Flushing, NY. He also received composite training from Colorado Aero Tech in Broomfield, CO. In addition, Richard earned an Avionics certificate at Platt/Sikorsky School of Aviation in Stratford, CT. He has extensive experience including repair station operations, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, inventory control, warranty claims and fleet maintenance tracking. Richard has worked for numerous aircraft management companies as a Maintenance Director/Coordinator. His previous employment includes MV Air Group, Air New England, Panorama Flight Services, Flight Services Group, and Shoreline Aviation.
Richard's operational experience, combined with a strong background in maintenance, provides him with a distinct and unique understanding of the overall value of business aircraft and business aviation.
